A Michigan State University student was found dead in freezing waters after he called for help on January 1.
According to the university’s website,Huron County Sheriff Kelly J. Hanson on Thursday, Jan. 3, released additional details regarding the search for Parker J. Haire and the discovery of his body. Haire was a junior at Michigan State University studying actuarial science.
Parker J. Haire, 21, called 911 for help on Tuesday morning explaining that he was cold, wet and somewhere near a factory, Mlive reports.
Officials suspended their search Tuesday night but resumed early Wednesday. About 8:35 a.m., Tuscola County deputies aboard an airboat found Haire’s body in waist-deep water on the north side of the Sebewaing River Point, more than one mile west of Sebewaing County Park.
An autopsy is scheduled to take place Thursday morning.
