A gunman shot and killed a police officer and wounded two others at a trailer park in Auburn late last night.
Police are looking for 29-year-old Grady Wayne Wilkes, who they say is armed and wearing camouflage, body armor and a helmet,reports CBS Birmingham, Alabama affiliate WIAT-TV.
Chief Paul Register said Wilkes, described as being armed and dangerous. Wilkes, white male, 6’4”, 215 pounds, was said to be a serious risk to the public. Wilkes was last seen wearing camo clothing with body armor and a helmet,” according to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
"I heard six shots, rapid-fire like it was an automatic weapon, and then there was a brief pause, maybe a second, and then three more single shots," a resident there who asked not to be identified told the Opelika-Auburn News.
Wilkes was last seen wearing camouflage clothing with body armor and a helmet at the Arrow Head Trailer Part in Auburn at around 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police said the officers were shot after responding to a domestic disturbance at the trailer park.
