A security guard charged in connection to the murder of a Miami woman who went missing while on vacation to celebrate her 36th birthday.
Bismark Espinosa Martinez, 32, of Nicaragua, was taken into custody following the slaying of Carla Stefaniak, 36, who vanished from her San Jose vacation rental last Tuesday while celebrating her 36th birthday.
Costa Rica's head of the Judicial Investigation Department, Walter Espinoza, told NBC Miami that the body found partially buried near the Airbnb where Stefaniak had been staying was identified as the woman.
An autopsy revealed that Stefaniak died of head trauma.
Bismark Espinosa Martinez, a 32-year-old security guard for the Airbnb property, has been arrested and charged with Carla’s murder. Espinoza said Martinez continued to give contradicting statements when authorities questioned him.
